The Highland Thistle Rally

Part of Rally The Globe - is revving up for a sparkling debut from October 4-9... a magnificent 1,200-mile driving escapade featuring pre-1977 models and other vintage vehicles.

Starting and finishing at St Andrews, the official Home of Golf, the awe-inspiring drive across vast moors, alongside mystical lochs and in the shadow of spectacular mountains, the five-day adventure features three or four regular sections per day and 10 special tests to challenge the skills of the crews.

Competitors will stay in luxury hotels and also visit fairytale castles and other top visitor attractions.

Following an overnight stay in Oban, the rally will cross rugged Rannoch Moor, then through atmospheric Glencoe and past Fort William in the shadow of Ben Nevis.

From there it’s onto Skye via the most photographed castle in Scotland, Eilean Donan and a second overnight, this time in Portree.

Wednesday and Thursday nights will be spent at the luxury Achnagairn Castle Hotel close to Inverness following further drives on Skye and a visit to the picturesque village of Applecross.

The final day includes a visit to Glamis Castle, birthplace of Princess Margaret, as well as journeying through Speyside with its world-famous whisky distilleries and the Cairngorms National Park.
